Writ of delivery

A Writ of Delivery is another form of High Court Writ that is used to recover specific goods. For example, if a finance company needs to repossess the vehicle they financed because their client has stopped payments, then they will do so under a Writ of Delivery. Another example might be where someone has provided items, such as jewellery, paintings or a car, to a dealer or auctioneer to sell, and the item is neither sold nor returned, then a writ of delivery would be used to recover them.

An order for money can also be added to a Writ of Delivery, so that the enforcement officer can recover any debt at the same time and under the same writ.

When goods are counterfeited, the counterfeits are deemed to also belong to the brand owner. A Writ of Delivery may, therefore, also be used to remove counterfeit goods from warehouses, retailers, wholesalers etc.
